Introduction

Bringing a Multi-Sensory Vision to Life

For this year’s IFA Berlin, Uniplan once again brought Studio Bachmannkern’s multi-sensory spatial concept to life for Electrolux/ AEG, building on years of technical collaboration at the show.

Moving beyond standard displays to full sensory engagement, the booth challenged traditional trade fair design by targeting not just the visual, but all the senses. Serving as the physical production partner, Uniplan focused on turning this ambitious brief into a flawless technical reality, executing specialized acoustic, tactile, and atmospheric environments across the stand.

Challenge

Overcoming Live Material Constraints

Translating complex sensory environments into a bustling trade fair setting presented significant structural and technical build challenges.

The core build challenge lay in executing high-precision architectural elements capable of isolating sound and atmosphere within an open exhibition hall with a lot of background noise. Simultaneously, incorporating natural elements into industrial product showcases required solving material longevity to ensure the organic elements could withstand a multi-day trade fair without degrading.

What We Did

Executing Advanced Spatial Environments

We engineered and constructed every specialized zone across the booth to ensure visitors could experience the brand through sight, sound, touch, and smell.

To engage the sense of hearing, our teams constructed the "Silent Room", a sealed acoustic chamber built from heavy insulation glass and acoustic pyramid foam that completely shut out fairground noise that allowed visitors to experience the near-total silence of the appliances firsthand. To highlight products within a natural environment, we also integrated real forest elements directly into the showcases, having conducted extensive mock-up trials months prior to test preservation so every detail remained fresh for all five days.

Finally, to complete the atmospheric journey, we built dedicated sensory zones equipped with ceiling-mounted fog installations and integrated aroma diffusers for an all around sensory trade fair experience.

How We Delivered

Precision On-Site Production

Uniplan delivered the complete physical realization, structural engineering, and technical coordination required for a high-performance trade fair build.

Operating as the production and build partner, Uniplan translated Studio Bachmannkern’s design into a robust physical environment. From managing complex mock-ups to navigating specialized glass and acoustic foam installations on-site, our teams orchestrated all construction details. The result was an expertly crafted booth where high-level technical build execution allowed visitors to fully immerse themselves in a unique sensory journey.
