A spark of inspiration marks the beginning of our Uniplan journey. Founder Hans Brühe is unhappy with his job. He impulsively sets up as a freelancer and wins WDR as an important client entirely off his own bat. Brühe gets to work building TV show sets and stadium camera towers, becoming an expert for special challenges.
Hans Brühe comes up with a seminal idea: exhibitions stands for hire. Uniplan becomes a leading provider of premium modular trade-fair stands. The company renames itself in 1970 to communicate its new corporate mission. Uniplan, the new company name, is a portmanteau of 'universal' and 'planned'.
Today – headquartered in Cologne with offices at eight key global locations – Uniplan embodies the multidisciplinary nature of the industry, taking in strategy, creative, design, engineering, production and execution in its wide-ranging concept-to-completion approach.
