Introduction
Designing Safer Futures in Motion
At Auto Shanghai 2025 we crafted an immersive showcase for Autoliv, the Swedish leader in automotive safety systems, that brought their vision of urban mobility safety to life under the theme “Safety Metropolis”. As the lead agency, Uniplan was responsible for the brand’s booth design, construction, and on-site operation.
Through a curated press conference, live forums, and future scenario installations, Autoliv demonstrated how pioneering technology and social responsibility intersect, setting new standards for the industry.
The Challenge
Unlocking the Secrets of Mobility Safety Technology
Our challenge: translating Autoliv’s cutting-edge safety solutions into an experience that felt accessible, engaging, and memorable for every visitor.
We aimed to not only showcase technological sophistication, but to also create an emotional connection, blending high-tech storytelling with intuitive touchpoints that showcased both the brand’s innovation and its human impact.
What We Did
Turning Innovation into Immersion
To meet this ambition, we conceptualized the “Future Safety Lab” — a multi-layered environment designed around three core experience zones:
Tech Experience Zone: Interactive VR crash simulations, AR missions, and a full-motion cockpit put visitors in the driver’s seat to feel the split-second impact of safety technology.
Interactive Arena: Gamified challenges like the “Glow Lock Challenge” used real-time data visualization and a live leaderboard to spark enthusiasm while subtly educating visitors on safety technologies.
Personalization Workshop: Creative stations invited guests to engrave seatbelt tags or upcycle coffee grounds into handmade soaps, transforming safety into a personal story.
All elements were connected through NFC wristbands, guiding visitors through a seamless digital journey that appealed to both industry professionals and the general public.
