Introduction

We created a place where coffee moments can truly be experienced.

The existing showroom of our client, Franke Coffee Systems, at their headquarter in Aarburg, Switzerland, was transformed into a customer-centric experience with state-of-the-art design.

The Challenge

What makes a professional coffee machine special?

The highly competitive market characterized by product commodity offers little potential for differentiation in marketing communications. That’s why our client Franke Coffee Systems does not solely emphasise the good coffee quality of its machines but all the other special ‘Franke moments’ their customers experience throughout their journey too. In order to underline this brand positioning, we developed a holistic spatial concept that makes these special moments physically tangible and inspiring for visitors to the showroom.

What We Did

To bring ‘Franke moments’ to life, we designed an enlarged showroom that focused on an emotional customer journey.

The journey manifests itself spatially through a path through various sales stations. The architecture leads the visitor past colour and light installations that match the content and guide them to the final product presentation at the centre. The final highlight is dedicated to the moment of coffee tasting, which is supported with conceptual motion design elements.

How We Delivered

From the exterior facade to the interior design

We took on the complete redesign of the showroom. Uniplan solved the challenge of building on-site and was able to implement the concept on time, as planned, despite a global shortage of materials.

We focused on a ‘less is more’ approach, reducing the number of coffee machines on display and embedding the selected products into the narrative of the flow of the space. For optimal use, we adapted the room concept to our clients’ needs - meaning the showroom now can be used as a training room too. The result, and the feel-good atmosphere, delighted everyone: us, the client, and – most importantly – the visitors.

The Key Facts

Project: creating the Franke Coffee Systems showroom

Mission: to design a customer-oriented showroom that breaks the traditional cycle of product launches

Solution: through architecture, light and colour installations and motion design, visitors were taken on an experiential journey through Franke's world of coffee

Result: a showroom with an atmosphere in line with the client's mission statement, creating a welcoming yet professional space that enhances customer service and loyalty
